The Integrative Healing of Mind, Body, and Soul

Christine Naungayan, M.D.

The Spiritual Shrink

I am proud to introduce you to my telepsychiatry website, an online clinical practice designed to work comprehensively with patients to attain physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual health. My mission is to work with each individual person to create a renewed sense of purpose, direction, and internally directed well-being by utilizing an array of treatments specific to every person's individual needs, which can include pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy but may also explore and incorporate alternative healing therapies and spiritual counseling.
Fundamental philosophies are explored in examining and expanding every person's life perspectives, with a focus on aligning positive intentions and healthy, reaffirming emotional states with cultural and religious beliefs specific for each person in a therapeutic and sensitive setting. Ultimate goals of treatment are to develop and foster a healthy sense of self and optimize every person's inherent abilities and often untapped, abundant potential to create and lead fulfilling, prosperous, and rewarding lives.
My team and I look forward to serving your needs in whatever capacity we can offer, and welcome you to our telepsychiatry practice.

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...

Education, Clinical Experience, and Professional Background:
I am a general adult psychiatrist, having completed my four year residency training and one year forensic fellowship at Yale. I was very involved during my residency with teaching and research, having had the amazing experience of serving as program chief resident, and I continue to maintain an academic affiliation with Yale and the psychiatric community in New Haven, Connecticut. I have had specialty training in addiction medicine, dual diagnosis patient populations, and geriatric psychiatry. I have treated patients ranging in age from adolescence to geriatric, and my experience includes pharmacotherapy with emphasis on treatment for general mood disorders, post-partum depression, anxiety, insomnia, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention deficit disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance abuse, in addition to a range of clinical issues with more specific psychiatric foci. I also offer psychotherapy for patients who wish to engage solely in psychotherapy or a combination of therapy and medication management. I am also a licensed Suboxone provider for patients attempting to stop using opiate-based medications/drugs, having experience both in Suboxone outpatient detox as well as Suboxone maintenance.
My goal is to form collaborative and reciprocal relationships with patients, such that I can meet their mental health needs in a medical capacity and also empower them to lead more fulfilling, healthy, and rewarding lifestyles. I am excited to be able to offer patients a range of private treatment options, including traditional pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy, with potential exploration of alternative therapies and spiritual counseling in the setting of a telepsychiatry practice which can allow patients to remain in the safety and comfort of their homes while receiving treatment.
I sincerely hope we can work together in the future as I integrate into my new role in the community, and thank you for taking the time to let me introduce myself.
Warm Regards
Christine S. Naungayan, MD

For referring M.D.’s/Therapists/Clinicians:
After working in a treatment and consultative capacity for several years primarily in an outpatient community clinic, I have decided to expand my private practice in the setting of a virtual telepsychiatry office. This has in part been inspired by the demand of patients to have improved access to private sessions with convenience and affordability in mind, but also in response to the excellent and rewarding relationships I have formed with the mental health clinicians and primary care physicians I presently work with in meeting the medical and psychiatric needs of the patient population in the private and community sector. This is also my solution to offer the best of both worlds to patients, both current and new, for medication management [at times working in tandem with a referring therapist/clinician] and individual psychotherapy.
My goal is to form similar collaborative and reciprocal relationships with both the private and clinic-based mental health clinicians so that we may best meet the needs and demands of our mutual patients. I am excited to be able to offer patients a range of private treatment options, and to continue collaboration in this new capacity with the presently well-established psychiatric and mental health treatment community in the tri-state area.
I would be very happy to speak with you if you have any additional questions or if you would like to tell me more about your practice. I sincerely hope we can work collaboratively in the future as I integrate into my new role, and thank you for taking the time to let me introduce myself.
Warm Regards,
Christine S. Naungayan, MD
